clouded (2018)

a few songs i made in my sophomore year at becker college. at the time, i broke my laptop in a longboarding accident, and my desktop died after a month of uptime, which led to me doing all of my computing on lab computers. i installed a cracked version of fl studio every time i wanted to make somthing, as the lab computers reset every day. i carried around an external drive with all my samples on it.

'Midnight Lights' was phrased as to describe the lampposts that always stayed lit on campus, that i'd stare at while walking home around 3-4 AM every night after lazing about on the lab computers after classes. the album art is actually one of those lampposts, put through a photo filter app. 'Clouded' refers to my state of mind at the time of making. it was a weird time.

'Belle' was originally a vocal track, but the lyrics were deemed to corny, so i just played the vocal melody as a lead instrument.

the single got quite high praise from my producer friends at the time. Jake (Okinoth) had said that i was a way better producer than him after hearing 'Midnight Lights', which is still one of the best compliments i've received to this day. Jake would go on to be a much better, and especially more active producer than me, over the years. upon hearing 'belle', Drew (Softly, Now) said it was some of my best work.
